Erica Zamora serves as the Director for Student Belonging and Inclusive Excellence at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, where she leads initiatives focused on fostering an inclusive campus environment. With a student-centered approach, Erica has built a robust portfolio of experience in strategic planning, bias incident management, and creating pathways for student retention through identity and equity-focused support programs. She plays a vital role in implementing the university’s strategic goals related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that all students feel a strong sense of belonging on campus.
Before joining St. Edward’s, Erica worked at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she was a key figure in the Office of Social Change and Intercultural Engagement. In this role, she partnered with local non-profits and community organizations, fostering strong connections between the university and Dallas communities. Additionally, she made substantial contributions to multicultural student affairs, developing programs that promoted intercultural understanding and equity within the student body.
Erica earned her master’s degree from New York University, where she deepened her commitment to social justice and community-building. She is trained in restorative justice practices, which she incorporates into her work to mediate conflicts and promote healing and understanding in student communities. Her expertise in identity development, especially among underrepresented and marginalized students, has been shaped by her decade-long involvement with the national board of NASPA’s Transracial Adoptee and Multiracial Knowledge Community, where she has been a dedicated advocate for students navigating complex identity experiences.
Erica’s leadership is rooted in her belief that universities have a responsibility not only to educate but to support the holistic development of students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. Her work continues to contribute to the evolving conversation on equity, inclusion, and belonging in higher education.
